Freddy is also the central character in a forthcoming children's book series, The Chronicles of the Blue Moon. This innovative new series blends mystery and adventure with themes built on the concept of a quest for knowledge. The series is by designer/illustrator and first-time author, S. E. Blakeslee.

Told in rhyme the first book in the series, Once Upon a Blue Moon introduces the curious blue critter, Freddy. Who or what he is and where he comes from remain a mystery. This richly illustrated book is designed to appeal especially to younger children and the young at heart. And since rhymes help develop reading ability, it will aid new readers.

Once Upon a Blue Moon is being published and will be available in the fall of 2006.

The Mystery of the Blue Moon, the second book in the series, tracks the adventures of the wizened detective, Rufus Merriwether Crain as he attempts to uncover clues to solving his greatest case. His journeys take him throughout the world in search of a timeless creature known simply as Freddy, a curious blue fellow with spots whose hidden origins are steeped in mystery and ancient lore.

Building on his love of folklore, world history and classic children's literature, Mr. Blakeslee has introduced an intriguing tale that will entertain and delight children of all ages for years to come!
